Christine 300x300 Christine Wood, PT, DPT, lives in Augusta County in the heart of Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley with her husband and children. With over  20 years of experience as a Physical Therapist, her hands have brought healing and pain relief to thousands of clients. She received her Bachelor’s  Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth  University. During her career she has worked across all demographics in numerous therapy settings from hospitals to outpatient clinics to nursing  homes. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Virginia Physical Therapy Association. Christine has pursued extensive post graduate training in several manual techniques enabling her to identify and treat the cause of pain and  dysfunction. She does not just treat the symptoms. In addition to loving her job she also enjoys playing the flute with the Stonewall Brigade Band and  with the Stonewall Flutes of the Shenandoah. Other hobbies include scrapbooking and hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains. Christine is also very active  in her children’s activities and loves being a mom.

Val 300x300 Valerie Stapel, PT, graduated from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine’s Physical Therapy Program in 1986. She has had extensive postgraduate training in Strain Counterstrain, women’s health, and numerous manual interventions. More than 25 years in the field has given her a wide range of experience and a deep belief that people are bigger than their pain and must be treated as multifaceted individuals in order to achieve effective musculoskeletal healing and mobility. Valerie lives in Harrisonburg with her husband and four children and seeks daily to make her own life a balance of work, family and faith.

 

Sarah Snead, a Virginia native, worked as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the Shenandoah Valley for 30 years. As a former patient of Horizons, Sarah has experienced the benefits of physical therapy and feels blessed to be a part of the team at Horizons. She lives in Crimora with her husband and cat and enjoys gardening, vending at local farmer’s markets, photography, camping, kayaking, sewing and playing with the Stonewall Brigade Band and Stonewall Flutes of the Shenandoah.

 

smiley-copyKathy Werner, PTA, LMT, graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Northern Virginia Community College with honors in 2002. Also a graduate of the Shenandoah Valley School of Therapeutic Massage, she has been a licensed and nationally certified massage therapist since 2006. Her extensive training in Strain Counterstain and Fascial Counterstrain makes her a perfect fit at Horizons. She has worked in a variety of settings including skilled nursing, outpatient clinics and the school system. She lives in Luray on the Shenandoah River and enjoys painting, hiking and kayaking.
